Hearing is something that most people take for granted. However, there are many people who are hearing impaired due to an injury or illness. Some people who have a hearing impairment were born with it. Life is much harder for those who are hearing impaired. They have to frequently ask people to repeat things, which can be quite frustrating. Those who are totally deaf live in a world that it totally silent. They cannot enjoy the simple sounds of life such as children laughing and birds chirping.

Even though daily life is challenging for the hearing impaired, many hearing impaired people do not let their disability stop them from achieving their dreams. Many hearing impaired people have earned college degrees and had successful careers. Many others have gotten married and have had a family of their own. Being hearing impaired does not mean that one will have a miserable life. All it means is that adjustments will have to made.

Only those who are deaf understand what it is like to go through life without being able to hear. Fortunately, many people are making the best of their bad situation by going to school, starting a career, getting married and having children.
